Program Substitution! Feb 2 was Shabbat Unplugged. Instead we will be putting together a group to go see the new movie coming out on Feb 1 called "The Gatekeepers" about the Israeli Shin Bet. More info to follow.

Jan 12 - USY Formal + Roller Skating Lock In -Formal flyer attached, to sign up for the Roller Skating overnight contact B'nai Shalom of Olney if you are interested.

Jan 22 - Movie Matinee & USY Planning Meeting @ Shaare Torah - including lunch 1130a-1230p meeting & 1230-230p movie - CHANGE IN THE MOVIE** A number of JDS folks want to see Waltz With Bashir so instead of showing this time it will be shown on March 3 for the Movie and Breakfast program @ Kehilat Shalom. This time we  will watch Unsettled by Adam Hootnick about the disengagement from Gaza.

Jan 24 - MoCo Jewish Teen Advocacy Night 7-9pm @ Rockville JCC - ADVOCACY NIGHT! Come learn about issues affecting MoCo and how YOU can be a part of creating change.  Council member Hans Riemer will lead a discussion with the kids. THE EVENT IS FREE and snacks will be served.
Jan 26 - Teen Shabbat Service with Lunch @ Shaare Torah - RSVP by Jan 22. We have 2 responses so far, we need at least a minyan (10) of teens to make this happen so let us know ASAP!
 

Jan 26 - 7:30-11:30 PM - MoCo Jewish Teen Broomball Kids will meet at B'nai Israel @ 7:30pm where we will take a bus to Trenches where the kids will have the ultimate arcade experience!  We will then head to The Rockville Ice Arena for a game of Broomball.  Kids need to bring their own broom and wear sneakers!  Event costs $25 and includes pizza, soda, snacks, broomball, and FREE arcade games.  Bus will return to B'nai Israel for pick up at 11:30. RSVP to Rabbi Jeremy no later than Jan 22.
 

 Jan 27 - Shaare Torah Mini Golf Invitational SSL program 2:00-6:00p  NO CHARGE- Come play golf with residents of the Jewish Foundation for Group Homes and earn SSL hours (1 hour for every hour you work). Afterwards we will all enjoy 16 Handles together and discuss the experience. RSVP as a helper/volunteer to Rabbi Jeremy by Jan 23.
 

 Jan 29 - March 12 - First semester of Hebroo Hi Skool - Tuesday evenings from 630-8p - snacks included. Sign up now through Rabbi Jeremy - $70 per semester unless you purchased a Gold FDCC (club card). The format for this semester has changed. This semester will be a more traditional style of Hebroo Hi and the next semester will be full of field trips and guest speakers.

About the Presenters:
Dr. Joshua M. Cohen, Psychologist, President of the Maryland Psychological Association. Dr Joshua Cohen specializes in therapy with adolescent boys. He helps many adolescent boys with issues around substance abuse, self-defeating behaviors, as well as mood and relationship issues. Dr. Cohen received his doctoral degree from Michigan State University. He is the current President of the Maryland Psychological Association. For more information, visit his website.

Ms. Brown specializes in working with adolescents, and has a particular interest in working with mothers and daughters communicate more clearly with one another. She has helped adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, and self-esteem concerns. Ms. Brown received her degree in social work from the New York University and has a post-masters certificate in Imago Relationship Counseling, founded by Harville Hendrix.
